Raising a family in the same city where he was born and raised — Phoenix
Meet Matt
I’m Matt Evans, a Phoenix native, father of three, and I’ve always been proud to say I’m from Phoenix. This is my hometown, the city where I was born and raised. I even named my son Phoenix. But the Phoenix I see today isn’t something I’m proud of. It’s not the city I grew up loving, and it’s not the city I want to leave to my children. In my opinion, Phoenix is broken, and the people breaking it are still in charge.
I’m a Senior Platform Engineer and part-time Uber driver. I was originally inspired to fight for our city after driving Uber around Phoenix and witnessing the growing homelessness crisis firsthand.
But the more I looked, the more I realized that Phoenix isn’t just struggling with homelessness. Our city has been mismanaged across the board — from overspending, to rising emergency response times, to understaffed police, failing schools, and declining public safety. Over time, the people lost their power, and more importantly, their representation. City Hall stopped listening.
I’m here to make sure that we the people are in control and have a say at what happens in our city. As a precinct committeeman in LD2, not only am I fighting for North Phoenix residents, but I’m fighting to give all of Phoenix a real voice and true representation in our city government.

2026 Is Our Chance
In 2026, four of the eight Phoenix City Council seats are up for election:
District 2
District 4
District 6
District 8
I started Take Back Phoenix (TBP) — is a team of four regular people standing up to save their city - running for each of the open city council seats.
A new majority on the City Council means real power back in the hands of the people. It means rethinking our city’s future, correcting course, and finally seeing real change on our streets — not promises.
